Hand-Painted Plaster Figurines (Acrylic & Satin Varnish Finish)
Thank you for choosing our hand-crafted plaster figurines. Because plaster is a delicate, porous material,
and its vibrant acrylic pigments are protected by a specialised satin varnish topcoat, proper care is vital to
maintaining its original beauty and medium-sheen finish. Follow these guidelines to ensure its longevity.
Routine Cleaning & Dusting
• Dust regularly: Use a completely dry, soft microfibre cloth, a feather duster, or a clean, soft makeup
brush to gently remove dust from deep crevices.
• Avoid immersion: Never submerge the figurine in water or hold it under a running tap. Plaster is highly
water-sensitive, and moisture can compromise the structure beneath the surface.
• Spot cleaning: For stubborn smudges, use a barely-damp cloth (wring it out entirely so it is only
fractionally moist). Gently wipe the area and dry it immediately with a soft towel.
Preserving the Satin Finish
• Do not over-buff: Avoid rubbing or polishing the surface too vigorously. Aggressive friction can
inadvertently shine the satin finish, creating uneven, high-gloss spots.
• Skip harsh chemicals: Strictly avoid household detergents, window cleaners, rubbing alcohol, or
solvents. These will partially dissolve or strip the acrylic satin topcoat, leaving it sticky, streaky, or
permanently dull.
• Prevent moisture blushing: Satin varnishes use flattening agents to reduce glare. Excess moisture
can get trapped under the surface, causing a temporary or permanent cloudy white haze (blushing).
Environment & Display
• Sunlight protection: Keep the figurine out of direct, intense sunlight. Extended exposure to UV rays
can yellow the protective varnish and fade the underlying acrylic paint pigments.
• Climate control: Display your figurine in a stable indoor environment. Avoid areas with extreme
temperature fluctuations or high humidity (such as unventilated bathrooms), which can cause plaster to
expand, contract, or weaken.
Handling & Storage
• Clean hands only: Handle the figurine primarily by its base. Natural oils, lotion, or sweat from your skin
can gradually degrade the varnish layer over long periods.
• Safe packing: If moving or storing the piece, wrap it individually in acid-free tissue paper or bubble
wrap. Ensure no hard edges or tape make direct contact with the varnished surface to prevent
scratching.
